Aim : collect the informations that will make it possible to establish the bases of a conservation plan. They will have to analyse the biodiversity, to understand the functioning of the local ecosystems and to study the influence of climatology.

This mission will largely use satellite pictures : the GIS (Global Information System) will allow the running of the scientific informations about the topography, the fauna, the flora, the frequenting of the place by the various species… To succeed in this mission and to give a logistic support to the teams of ecoguides and of scientists working for the study and the conservation of this region, Ecoguide has undertaken the construction of a base-boat : the Neblina.

Essential to move on the Amazon, sail back up the Rio Negro and its affluents, the Neblina, fitted out with a laboratory, will also be able to carry material and to accomodate people. It will also be possible to use it as a medical unit for the local population.

The Neblina is being constructed in a craft shipyard near Manaus. It is devised from the model of the traditional Amazonian boats. It is composed of local materials, wood, and has two decks. It is 6 meters wide and flat-bottomed, and will be able to sail on shallow waters with stones showing on the surface. It will accompany the conservation actions carried in the region.
